Bear Ottoman

BEAR OTTOMAN

sustainability project

Assigned to design a plastic product that would realistically extend from a chosen company’s product line within the limits of being smaller than 12 x 12 x 12, highlighting an aspect of sustainability and being able to be manufactured at Formed Plastics (a plastic factory I visited and learned from), I designed a piece of children's furniture for the company ecobirdy. Through the project, I was able to do extensive research on plastic manufacturing processes, company concepts and sustainability goals that are realistic. I created a multiple prototypes, posters on the product I created and the condensed research I have collected.

RICE WATER STRAINER

second life project

This project explores giving a second life to food and/or finding use for food waste. The goal is to create something other than a composting related product.

Paper Speaks

PAPER SPEAKS

language project

Given the task to create a container/presentation/holder (using only paper) for each word/object pairing in combinations communicating: angry, elegant, or playful while containing an: elastic band, poker chip and ping pong ball, the key point to this project was to challenge creating clear communication of expression through the holding of each object while only using the most minimal amount of material, paper. After the creative process of creating multiple models, sketching out ideas of different combination, given an abundance of feedback, I was able to narrow down to three most compelling examples of the three objects with three expressions.

MAGIC IN THE AIR

lighting project

This project is a project more focused towards the lighting effect lights can create. The prompt: Lumimorphosis lead me to a more fantastical themed approach. Inspired to create a magical experience, I created a poem which inspired the lighting effect.

moonlight shining through

the darkness of night,

water floating in the sky,
swaying with the glowing,

blooming flowers in the slightest breeze

hear the sound of the water and the flowers swaying

through

the flow of light

Design Engineering-Solidworks

Through exploration of different manufacturing processes, I designed objects based on these processes through Solidworks.
